Nelson was active in Real Estate primarily in the US and Canada. During the 10 year period from 1971 to 1981, he brokered a staggering volume of over 1000 transactions worth over $500 million on average per year. Nelson Skalbania probably invented the concept of "flipping" real estate.

Purchased in three consecutive years, three packages of real estate from Genstar Development Company. The last package of real estate of $150 million included hotels, shopping centers, apartments and raw land from New York to Vancouver.
